THE ELECTRIC THEATER TO SHOWCASE FOUR BANDS IN ONE NIGHT Wednesday, 11.04.2009, 09:03am (GMT-6)
The
Electric Theater is offering an action-packed evening of music Friday, November
13, with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. Sherwood, Love You Long Time, The Trademark
and 7 Days Prior are putting on a rockin’ show of dance-worthy music. Tickets
are $12 in advance and $15 at the door.
Sherwood
focuses on creating rock and roll music that can be danced to – upbeat,
with nonaggressive passion and a strong nod to classic rock stylings. While the
band's original sound has been described as "The
Get Up Kids meets Mineral meets Further Seems Forever," the band's
detailed list of influences for their current sound is a blend of old-fashioned
rock and progressive alternative, with strong ties to standards set by the Beach Boys.
The band began in late 2002 while several of its
founding members were attending Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, California. Sherwood
initially gained attention playing the Vans Warped Tour for several years. The
band toured extensively in the States, Europe and Japan to promote its 2007
album, A Different Light, and last month, Sherwood released its new album, QU. Recently,
Sherwood's song "The Best in Me" was used as the theme to the new MTV show College Life.
Telling stories of ladies, life, and party time,
Love You Long Time combines an old-school hip-hop vibe with modern pop music to
create the most refreshing sound since The Fresh Prince himself. It’s rumored
that the band's live show is so explosive, Chuck Norris is worried about his
safety. The release of the band’s new single, "All Night," is a
classy step forward accompanied by remixes from electro artists from around the
world.
Meanwhile, if you need a lesson in
determination, The Trademark can teach you a thing or two. Five years ago,
brothers Riley and Drew Hamnett, as well as longtime friend Natty Coleman,
started writing music and playing shows anywhere that people would listen. Now,
after several national tours and the release of their highly-anticipated (sold
out in Hot Topic locations nationwide), full-length album, This Island Earth,
The Trademark is redoubling its efforts to get its brand of pop-laced rock and
roll in front of as many people as possible.
