Brother Dan Palmer Performs at Concert in the Park Monday, 07.06.2009, 05:30pm (GMT-6)
The
City of St. George presents its Concert in the Park 2009 Series the second Monday of
each month, running through September.
Admission is free. This month’s featured performer is Brother Dan Palmer, an
acoustic and folk musician. Brother Dan will play Monday, July 13 at 7:30 p.m.
at Vernon Worthen Park (300 S. 400 E.).
As Brother Dan says, “Music is the
heartbeat of life. When your heart beats with mine, whether it's with wild
abandon or quiet contemplation, we are truly brothers.”
Lifelong musician Brother Dan Palmer started studying classical guitar at
the age of six and began performing at the age of eight. He has a repertoire of
over 1,000 cover songs from virtually all genres, and he has played in
virtually every venue imaginable, from passing the hat on the streets of San
Francisco to dinner houses, bars, nightclubs and casinos. He also has concert
experience, opening for or playing with acts such as Men at Work, Three Dog
Night, Foghat, The Tubes, The Grass Roots, Canned Heat, Humble Pie, Black Oak
Arkansas, John Nemeth, War, David Lindley, Donovan, Bob Weir, and more.
Brother Dan is best classified as an upbeat, observant singer/songwriter
specializing in modern Americana music. He is compared to artists as diverse as
John Mayer, Maroon 5, James Taylor, David Wilcox, Dan Fogelberg, Todd Snider,
Dave Mason, and Harry Chapin.
Brother Dan's main focus now is his original music, and he draws from his
extensive experience to craft well-written songs that have universal appeal.
His obvious love of various styles of music translates into hybrid combinations
which are unique yet familiar, serving as an excellent vehicle for his intense
and highly personal lyrics.
Brother Dan's first full-length all-original CD was released in the late
summer of 2007, and the release of his next EP is scheduled for early April
2009.
Sponsored by the Utah Arts Council, the National Endowment
for the Arts, and the City of St. George, Concert in the Park 2009 Series is
free to the public. Don’t miss the second Monday of each month through
September. Park seating is available. Bring blankets, lawn chairs, food and the
