Where: Beaver
Dam Bar (Outside near the Virgin River)
The first
Beaver Dam Jam was held last year near the end of March, and while it snowed on
the final day, everyone had a great time listening to bands from Vegas as well
as St, George and Cedar City. Extending into April this year will give
better odds for nicer weather. The entire event is held to raise money for
the Beaver Dam High School football program. They don't have a football
field to play or practice on, and this project will help remedy that problem.
Bill Evens,
owner and operator of the Beaver Dam Bar, has been a contributor to the
Beaver Dam community for years. He is glad to provide this as a thank you to the
local patrons of his business and to help the football team’s ability to
practice at home rather than go to St. George each day by bus.
Bill and his
staff have built a stage and a theater that lends itself perfectly to an
outdoor music festival. In addition to the music on the stage, there are
vendors selling food, drinks, and arts and crafts to make the outing more fun
and interesting. The price of a ticket includes entrance to the festival,
camping, and a plate of great food from the ground-roasted pig. The price
for adults is $35 and kids get in for $5. Everyone that attended had a
great time last year and promised to return.
The musical
entertainment is top-drawer. Last year the bands were Van Gough, Desert
Heat, Most Wanted, and an old-time favorite, Brother Blues. Several bands
out of Las Vegas are also anticipated this year to round out the show.
Be sure to add
the Beaver Dam Jam to your entertainment plans for this spring. You will
be sure to enjoy great music, food and atmosphere, camping out under the
northern Arizona skies. Come on down and Jam at the Dam.
